This is the SACA-West three wheeler based on a Cushman frame and using a Besler smoke coil monotube boiler and a Day-Land engine.  The boiler used a Pete Barrett designed spinning cup burner and gasoline and a quartz rod controller with a normalize, in typical Doble design fashion.  Pete Barrett is shown sitting on the vehicle.  The steam power plant was too much power for the vehicle’s suspension and brakes so it was taken apart and the components used in a larger frame.

SACA West Three Wheeler   The miracle is that this worked at all.  It was made with money collected from the Los Angeles club and put together by a committee, although Pete insisted on the boiler design.
